REED/Re-evaluation Application

The REED/Re-evaluation application in eStar will be disabled on November 10th. Please finish all evaluations in that application and archive them prior to that time. If a REED was written in this application and you will not have time to finish the evaluation in REED/Reeval prior to November 10th, please write it up in eFIE. Thanks! -Nichole

Senior REEDs

Hi all, I have received a few questions about senior REEDs from high school SLPs recently. I was a meeting on Friday with the district evaluators (new name: Campus Support Team) and they talked about senior REEDs so apparently, this has been a district question. Dr. Lawrence emailed TEA and they sent this reply:  https://drive.google.com/a/g.risd.org/file/d/0B_vsFUEPt4v7bnpQd0dWdHhqaW8/view?usp=sharing We had a conversation about what their reply might mean for us and here are a few notes I took: A senior REED is not REQUIRED. If the FIE is current and appropriate and you don't see any need for a senior REED, you do not have to write one. You should have a conversation about what exists to determine if it is sufficient. If it is still describing the student, you do not need to do anything further. If it is not still describing the student, you may want to write a senior REED.  If the ARD committee concludes the student has everything he or she needs in ...
I'm looking for recommendations for assessment tools that can capture pragmatics skills for a verbal student with Autism, in a DLC classroom. The Pragmatics Profile on the CELF may be helpful, but most of the other protocols listed in the Shell Report seem too high...any ideas would be appreciated! -Rivka

MSB Goals

Hey everyone! As I have been progress monitoring my students' goals, I noticed that sometimes the goals in MSB do not match the goals on their progress reports in esped. I was under the impression that MSB updated every day and would pull in esped goals. I'm not sure where some of the goals I've been submitting data for came from, because according to esped, my students don't have those things as goals. I hope that makes sense. Has this happened to anyone else?  Help! Lori

Has anyone ever heard of this language?

I recently got a parent evaluation request for a PK student whose home language is Brava/Barawa/Barawe/Chimwiini, which I've discovered is a minority language in Somalia and is a dialect of Swahili. Has anyone ever experienced this language? I am trying to figure out if it is feasible to try to get an interpreter that speaks Brava or if I should just try to get a Swahili interpreter. I'm just afraid that this dialect may have some differences from standard Swahili. If I'm able to get an interpreter, this will be my first evaluation with an interpreter, so if anyone has any pointers, please let me know. 😊 -Kristina Barth

Accessing Data in MSB

With all of this work I've been doing to get my data entered into MSB, I really want to just pull up a report with a summary of my data for each objective. I thought they told us there was a way to do that, but everything I'm seeing doesn't seem to be working properly. I've been resorting to arrowing over the little blue dot next to each objective on an event to see all of the data I have posted for each student, but I KNOW there has to be a better way. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance! -Kristina Barth

Social Story

Hi All! Does anyone have a social story already made that targets being "ready to learn" or even "whole body listening?' Thank you thank you! -Lymer

Spanish Language Data Form (for preschool)

Hi, Could someone share a Spanish copy of the PPCD Referral Data form with me? I have an initial evaluation for a preschooler and I want to send home a better language data form than the old one we used to use for all ages. Thanks, Aaminah

Program Descriptions

Hi there! I know the names of several centralized programs have changed this school year.  Two programs at my school have changed from "DLC" to "SDC"... but no one really told me what this means.. but I think it's different from "SLC." Is it possible to get a list of centralized programs, their full names (and acronyms), and what general criteria it takes to place students in those programs?  I haven't seen anything like this on Guidelines.  Thanks! Hailey

Speech Evaluation Shell Report

Hi all, I hope you have been able to work with the new speech evaluation report shell and are enjoying the changes. I saw today that the general report shell was missing from the google folder holding all of the shell reports. Please do not move this document. If you move the document, it will take access away from all of the SLPs so they will not be able to use it. I found the document and added it back to my drive so I could put it back into the folder, but I want to make sure y'all are being mindful of this issue so we can all share this new shell. Thank you so much! -Nichole

45 School Days

Does anyone have a current calendar for the 45 school day evaluation timelines?  I need to calculate timelines for re-evaluations. Thanks! Hailey

October is AAC Awareness Month

Hi all – This month is AAC Awareness Month!  Let’s take this month to become better communication partners and to share ideas with each other!   Head over to Twitter and share pics of your CORE activities and CORE around your room with the hastag of #saymorewithcore . Here are some great reminders of why we need to use the student’s system to talk to them:       W hen WE use AAC, children see it as important. As valuable. As effective. As normal.         When WE use AAC, children learn word meanings, but they also begin to connect the AAC symbols to the words they hear and the context in which those words are used.         When WE use AAC, children get insight into the rules for combining words expressed through AAC symbols into phrases, sentences, and questions.         When WE use AAC, children learn that it can be used to ask, to tell, to wonder, to argue, to noti...
