Narrative Focus Group Update

Image
Hi wonderful SLP's! The Narrative Focus Group spent the majority of last year developing a great way to gather, analyze, and report a narrative sample for a student when you think narrative information might be a helpful evaluation piece. We presented about it at the GROW conference this summer, and thought that some of you may be interested in attending a PD session to hear that information. If so, here you go! For those who attended this summer or attend on the 18th, we are hoping to gather feedback from you later this year after you've had a chance to use the materials. This is totally voluntary, but we would love to see you there! Sign up in TNL to let us know you're coming! Thanks! -Lori

ISP for Private School Students - Guiding Document

Hi Everyone, I'm very excited to announce that a guiding document (click sheet) has been created for ISPs. It is located in the private school folder in the SLP google drive. Please note the following new guidance on requirements for IEPs with an ISP: Step 1:  Determine if student resides in RISD boundaries. For students who reside in RISD boundaries - complete step 2 For students who do NOT reside in RISD boundaries - continue to step 3 Step 2: Review proposed IEP, ARD committee typically agrees with the IEP (check that ARD committee is in agreement) and team signs the IEP (if parent later decides to enroll student in RISD, this IEP can be implemented immediately). In minutes state: Parent is in agreement with proposed IEP, but declines to enroll their child in RISD. An ISP will be drafted. Step 3: Review ISP to be drafted per following guidelines NOTE: For students who reside in RISD: IEP and ISP should be drafted annually by the end of Se...

Hi Everyone! Please remember to sign off your blog posts with your name so we know who is posting! There has been an air of mystery about many entries to the blog when no name has been provided! (I've also been guilty of doing this). 😳 Thanks! - Mandy

News from the Stakeholders Feedback Session on RISE

For those of you who did not attend the Stakeholders Feedback session, changes have been made to the RISE rating rubric in order to align it 1:1 with the HR appraisal tool. We were able to achieve this by breaking up some of the previous performance objectives to match the appropriate domain and dimension. Some additions were made based on feedback to best show the breadth of work you all do in specific settings. In response to suggestions provided in Stakeholders Feedback session, the following changes have been made to our RISE appraisal system: Rating Rubric Based on recommendations from last year’s end of year survey, we had already divided the planning dimension into RtI for elementary and Indicator 13 for secondary. During the stakeholder feedback session, some SLPs who only serve centralized programs indicated concern with this split, as neither one of these areas is applicable to them.  A recommendation from one of our SLP stakeholders to focus on “planning” as ...
